We're a little place out in Saitama, Japan (a stone's throw from Tokyo). We believe that younger children learn language better than adults, and that the best way for them to learn is through active, experiential, FUN activities. They'll learn plenty of grammar and reading in elementary and higher schools. We believe that what they need most is personal experience with not only the language but with the cultures, attitudes and paradigms underlying it.
Our lessons range from forty sixty minutes, depending on the type of lesson.
We organize our classes based initially on developmental age, and then by skill, experience and friendships.
I am the only teacher but we hope to hire another in the future.
I am from Dallas, Texas USA. I have been living and teaching English in Japan since 1997. I started with NOVA in Yokohama. There I taught conversational, business, and travel English. I taught TOEIC / TOEFL preparation. I also taught in their children's program. After 3 years, I changed to ECC where I worked as a assistant language teacher in elementary and jr. high schools in rural Machida. After that, I taught kindergartens and daycares in Kanagawa for JIEC, for three years. With JIEC and English Studio, I was trained to teach pre-school children.
Asaka English has been in operation since July 2001. We started in the bedroom of a house in Asaka city, Saitama. We recently moved to a larger location that absolutely ROCKS! We have a nice, big space for our lessons, a waiting room for the parents, and best of all, A ROOF TOP PATIO! I love this place. Come have a look.
It goes without saying that I like children. On top of thatI like playing and listening to a boundless range of music. I also enjoy art, film, computers and mountain biking.
My wife, Mami has traveled and lived all over the world, and is currently obsessed with Korean language, music, TV, food and the list goes on.
My son is five and likes to help with lessons from time to time.
